What is it about pink gadgets?
I got a link from my boyfriend about the possibility of a Kindle 2.0. Of all the stuff that was listed as features the only one that caught my attention was the mockup of a pink Kindle.
Something about the Kindle going pink sent the eReader from my “that’s cool but kind of expensive” category.. into the “Wow I want one!” category. It wasn’t a logical reaction by any means, but a more emotional reaction to seeing the pink gadgets.
I can’t be the only one who has this type of reaction. I googled “Pink electronics” and found that at least Target has a whole online category of just pink stuff. It had everything from cameras, laptops, and noise cancelling headphones to iPod speakers and alarm clocks.
So is it as simple as saying that if a gadget is pink its now “acceptable” and non-nerdy enough to be ok for girls to want? Or is there something else at work here?
After some careful consideration I’m not really any closer to figuring it out. But I have stopped buying paperbacks for the immediate future in the hopes of having saved up in case they do officially annouce a pink Kindle!
